On Tuesday, July 8, Washington state joined Colorado as America’s second state to sell legal weed to anyone 21-and-over! To celebrate, we sent WeedmapsTV to film the historic event, created a guide to weed in Washington, and flew a plane over Seattle.
And believe it or not, but the state of Washington did not crumble—in fact, it’s thriving. Congratulations to the entire state of Washington for knocking down America’s second domino!

Introducing: The New Weedmaps Search!
When searching for Dispensaries, Delivery Services and Doctors, the experience should be as easy as possible. Most importantly the results should be what you expect from your search input.
We’ve released a new feature that adds an Auto Suggest feature to the main search bar.
You can now search for a city name or dispensary name in a single search input.
As you type into the search field, a drop-down list appears with results that match your input. Those results are filtered as you type; the displayed results are also organized by Featured Regions and matching dispensary names (if there is a match).
This is a first step in overhauling our search function to make it a better experience for our users.
We look forward to your feedback. For a more detailed description on how the new and improved search functions, please view our video tutorial:
We were stoked to be a part of Denver’s Cannabis Business Summit the past few days where we joined Colorado and the nation’s burgeoning industry leaders to discuss the industry’s present, future, and hurdles.
Yesterday, our founder and CEO, Justin Hartfield, spoke on the Investors panel with ArcView CEO Troy Dayton, Emily Paxhia of Poseidon Asset Management, and Alan Brochstein of 420 Investors.
The panel discussed the investment side of the industry, giving tips to investors and business owners on what to look for, what to avoid, and their thoughts on when cannabis stocks would become viable.
Each speaker was asked what aspect of the industry they see the most potential in for growth, and the unanimous sentiment was ancillary businesses.
Specifically, our Commander-in-Kief pointed out the machines that process plant matter into hash, and the ancillary businesses related to dabs.
To close out the session, Troy offered this sage advice: “You want to make sure you’re raising money for the type of business you want to build.”
Other notable panels included one on proper cannabis testing, one on Up-and-Coming cannabis states (like Nevada), and one regarding the “banking crisis.”
It was a great, informative event bringing both industry insiders and outsiders together, and we’re excited for more informative gatherings like this in the future.
Up next: we’ll do it all again in Denver next week at the inaugural Weed Stock Conference!
